The professional journal Social Prevention has a publishing tradition spanning over 20 years and has undergone several redesigns throughout its history. The previous version, however, appeared outdated — pages were dense with text, visually heavy, and lacking balance or rhythm. My goal was to create a modern, timeless, and readable design that respects the fixed 40-page limit while improving the overall structure and flow of content.
I based the redesign on classic typographic principles and clear layout rules that bring hierarchy, space, and visual consistency to each issue. The new layout also streamlines the production process, making typesetting faster and more efficient.
Visually, I introduced the concept of distinctive color-coded covers for each issue, paired with abstract illustrations that respond to the main topic of that edition. This gives the journal strong recognizability and a fresh, professional appearance. Since the redesign, three issues have been published, and both the editorial team and readers have praised the new look for meeting all expectations.
